Finally the work on the grounds, which are attaching to the garden, went on. I cleared a lot of the logs away, which were buried there and stored the ones, which can be still used as firewood, in the newly built wood shed. There is plenty of wood rotting in the earth, unfortunately all of it was somehow wrapped in a big plastic sheet, which is now after years falling apart and sticking in bits and pieces everywhere in the ground. Just completely horrible. John made a bonfire and finally burned all the garden stuff I had piled up in the last 3 months cleaning up the property. We were very aware of the possibility of the fire creeping into the dry grass and scrubs and had buckets of water and a batter ready. I also had cut the grass very short in a circle around the fireplace And finally:! After being requested often, Quintinha Mojud is now getting a small outside kitchen, which will give all my guests the possibility of using a fridge and a small gas burner on the covered terrace and cook their own meals and store their food. ![]() Virgilio doing a great job making it all rain- and wind proved

Last week we made a trip to Almograve. I would like to share some fotos with you as is really lovely over there. Almograve is situated between Odemira and Vila Nova de Milfontes in the southern Alentejo The beach of Almograve The coastline is just fantastic Sandstone formations.....plants are finding a grip just everywhere Almograve has a little natural harbour. We discovered it by coincidence, following a dirt track along the cliffs.
When we already wanted to turn around, being afraid, that we would not be able to do it later on as the road was narrowing, we came to a point we could park the car and continued walking. After the next bent, the harbour was lying. |
